Not too early for Christmas Decorating Ideas

Not too early for Christmas Decorating Ideas

Every year just a few weeks prior to Christmas a few of our friends and we ride through our subdivision and enjoy the beautiful lights of the season. By the end of the ride, everyone is in a jovial mood just observing the decorations that everyone has put up. It’s just a tradition with us. It’s a great idea to get an early start planning holiday lighting. If you look hard enough you might find some offseason sales on just what you need. With so much being said this year about energy conservation, getting an early start will help you to locate just the perfect lights for your house, and be aware of choosing energy conservative ones. One particular light this year that is extremely energy saving are the LED strings

First, decide what your theme will be this year

Whether you decide to stay with the Christmas lighting display that has become traditional at your home, or intend to try something entirely new, now is a good time to get some thoughts down on paper. If you’ve always had a really conservative display, this year might be the one that you decide to add more lights on a wooden sleigh or wrap the trunks of a few of the large trees in your yard with rope lights. In Christmas light decorating, however, in order to decorate in a tasteful manner, less is more. If you’ve always used a Santa theme, you might try a Rudolph the red nosed reindeer this year. No matter what you decide to use a theme this year, there is really no limit to the merchandise that you will find to make your yard the prettiest in the neighborhood. There are a lot of professional lighting experts out there, but you really don’t need one to develop the look you want.

Too much lighting may be ?too much?

Unless you?ve decided to have your yard included in the ?tacky light tour? this year, maybe you won?t want to include too many lights or too many plastic lighted characters, or inflatable cartoon characters. Too many figures in your yard can be in poor ?taste? for such a lovely season of the year. If you have doubts about how much is ?too much?, talk your design plans over with a lighting specialist at your local lighting store. An electrical professional can also direct you in how to avoid wiring issues in your setup. And so, early planning is a good thing. With some creative thought, your outdoor Christmas lighting this year can be the most attractive, most energy efficient ever

"Hey, Mom, let's go to look at the Christmas Lights"

“Hey, Mom, let’s go to look at the Christmas Lights”

Most every Christmas season, there are Holiday Light Tours that drive around the city and the urban communities to take in the various styles of holiday lighting people have chosen. Buses of retirees from local retirement homes especially enjoy this every year. With the addresses of homes in the area that are labeled as “tackily lit”, there is a “tacky light tour”. It is a tradition for some people every year, usually the same ones, to have their yard just packed with figures of all types and sizes, inflated, wooden, kites, balloons, and lights blinking and winking all over the place. Of course, it’s just a joke and those who do it are very amused when the busloads ride by and slow down to see their particular “circus”. They’re doing a great job for the lighting industry, but most people have reservations about their conservation of energy. I say if a little fun and enjoyment can be brought to the senior citizens, it’s a good plan.

I believe they save the most beautifully lit homes for last and they “ooh and aah” over the winter wonderland that is contrived by these homeowners. After the light tour is over, they stop at a Starbucks for a frozen latte or for a hot chocolate at McDonald’s.

Do you set up your same favorite display each year?

There are as many different styles of lighting displays as there are homes to display them. The icicle lights have become very popular that are draped across rooftops and give a very realistic icicle look. Homes with particularly interesting architectural features make especially good examples for that type of light. Many people find that not only are the lights expensive, but the installation is quite tricky, so they choose to leave them up year round. They of course, don’t usually leave them on all year, but you get the idea. It’s too much trouble to take them down. People who live around lakes place the lights around small piers at the lake’s edge for an especially beautiful effect at night. And, many of these do turn their lights on year round.

Maybe you’d like the LED lights this year

If you’re really into energy conservation this year, the LED light sets may be your best choice. They can be used for many different types of applications and save up to 80% on energy consumption. There are computer controlled systems that may your light system a snap to operate during the holidays. Check with your local lighting professional for details on this setup.

Are you the person who loves giving unusual Christmas gift ideas? Do you love the idea of surprising your friends and family members with unusual gifts, perfect for them or just off the wall? If so, why not buy them a tree! Why give somebody one more pair of woolly socks or one more dull book when you can give the something that they can look on with happiness every single day? A tree is a wonderful Christmas gift idea and you will be surprised at the types that you have available to you.

One great advantage to giving someone a tree for Christmas is that you are looking at a wonderfully eco-friendly alternative. Instead of buying something that is just going to get disposed of into a landfill in a few years, why not give them something that improves our environment? Whether you choose a slender sapling that is going to grow into a mighty oak, or you fancy the idea of cherry blossoms that bloom in the spring, you will find that this can be the perfect gift for anyone on your Christmas list who is looking for something beautiful and meaningful.

Also think about the fact that it is a perfect gift for someone who has had a big change in their lives. Has a friend or family member recently got married or have they had a baby? One thing that trees are wonderful for is marking growth and it can be a real blessing to see a tree grow even as a child or a relationship does. Watching a tree grow healthily is its own joy and the tree itself can act as a beautiful celebration of the time that has passed.

Something that might make someone pause before they get a tree is they may wonder where their friends will put it. After all, not everyone is going to be able to have a large garden where they can plant trees! On the other hand, just about everyone has a deck or a corner where they can grow a tree in a pot and when the tree grows taller, you can be sure that someone is going to be happy with a tree donation. Your friend’s tree can go to a park or forest preserve and they can visit it whenever they please.

When you are fed up of the same old selection of gifts, take some time to consider what trees are going to suit them. This can result in a huge difference. You will definitely find that people love getting a beautiful tree that will bring them the festive seasonal cheer.
