Illuminate Your Home With A Low Voltage Landscape Light System

Saturday, February 6th, 2010

Unless you have owned a system similar to this in the past in a home you won’t believe exactly what a huge difference it can make to the look of your home at night.

A low voltage landscape light system is perfectly easy to install and look after that you wouldn’t believe how different all will appear in your backyard once it is illuminated.

You could go for spread lights which is able to light up an section of backyard in general and not identify any precise part.

In a number of ways it can look resembling a community garden or park where lighting makes it feasible to walk daylight hours or hours of darkness, noticeably a smaller size but just as attractive.

The good point concerning low voltage systems is that the current, i.e. 12V, is small enough to be completely secure. It is so harmless that you may probably have the lighting on whenever you are siting them to best impression. There is never danger to you.

One negative aspect I would like to mention is that the lights furthest apart from the electrical device will never appear as intense as those nearby.

Chandeliers In Homes

Thursday, January 28th, 2010

Chandeliers are luxurious hanging lighting ornaments that are usually found in churches and abbeys. The term chandelier came from the French word chandelle which means candle. Usually it has two or more arms which bear the lights. Chandeliers are often luxuriant with sets made from various crystals or selected glasses that creates elegancy in a room.

In the old times, candles and gas lamps are used to fashion houses and palaces. These are supported by a ring-like, cross wood or crown design. They had become a popular decorative feature and a symbol of luxury and high status.

It was during the 18th century wherein candles and gas lights are the only source of light for households. By 20th century, it was then replaced by electrical powered lightings. Since then, candles and gas have been used for aesthetic purposes. Instead of using it for illumination, it was furthered developed and had become a decorative focal point to enhance and accentuate a room.

With vast developments and advancements in technology and knowledge, chandeliers have evolved. Creative and new designs were made. These enormous lights transformed into a more complex and elaborate forms creating an extravagant and luxurious impression to its viewers. The classic beauty and timeless elegance and sophistication of these lights evolved a drama in prestigious places such as five star hotels, conference rooms, and high class restaurants.

Spectacular Outdoor Patio Lights

Sunday, December 27th, 2009

I fell in love with the effects of outdoor lighting at a wonderfully romantic restaurant in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. As I recall, the restaurant was called Cafe Des Artistes. We sat in the garden amongst whimsical art sculptures while carefully placed outdoor patio lights snaked up and down the trees. It was likely the first time I had seen rope lights before. I was enchanted. Since that night I have eaten in many other romantic restaurants and have admired the outdoor lighting but nothing compares with my first experience.

At my own house, I have tried to replicate the feel of bringing the indoors out which is what properly placed outdoor patio lights should do. I have met with moderate success and I love to experiment. In choosing your outdoor lights there are a number of things you should always consider. I have tried to list the 4 most important considerations below.

Riding Tours To See Outdoor Christmas Lights

Monday, November 23rd, 2009

“Hey, Mom, let’s go to look at the Christmas Lights”

Most every Christmas season, there are Holiday Light Tours that drive around the city and the urban communities to take in the various styles of holiday lighting people have chosen. Buses of retirees from local retirement homes especially enjoy this every year. With the addresses of homes in the area that are labeled as “tackily lit”, there is a “tacky light tour”. It is a tradition for some people every year, usually the same ones, to have their yard just packed with figures of all types and sizes, inflated, wooden, kites, balloons, and lights blinking and winking all over the place. Of course, it’s just a joke and those who do it are very amused when the busloads ride by and slow down to see their particular “circus”. They’re doing a great job for the lighting industry, but most people have reservations about their conservation of energy. I say if a little fun and enjoyment can be brought to the senior citizens, it’s a good plan.

How To Get The Best From Solar Garden Lights

Saturday, November 21st, 2009

Installing solar garden lights is similar to many home improvement projects in that the likelihood of a successful end result is related to how well the objectives are defined in the first place. So consider what it is you’re trying to achieve - courtesy lighting for yourself and visitors, security lighting to deter intruders, a place to entertain or simply bringing the garden to life at night?

You might of course choose any or all of the above plus a few other ideas of your own, which means you will also have to figure out how to balance various competing demands on your solar lighting layout. So you can see then that specifying your various objectives upfront makes it a whole lot easier to divide your outdoor spaces into discrete zones and identify suitable light fittings.

Solar deck lights for example won’t deter many intruders (though these highly versatile little devices will function very well in many situations such as path or drive markers). Equally you probably don’t want bright floodlights on your entertaining areas, and while low level coloured lights look lovely as decorative features in the garden they won’t help your guests see what they’re eating or drinking.

These solar lights appear the same as ordinary Christmas lights. In fact the only difference is that you do not have to connect them to the power supply of your home. They come with solar cells and a battery which are used to power the bulbs and LEDs.

You may think that in winter the sun does not shine enough to provide power for solar lighting, but today’s solar cells can function even on a cloudy day. As the energy is stored in one or two batteries the lights will shine brightly throughout the night.
