The first concern of any koi pond keeper, indeed of any fish pond keeper, it to maintain the pond water at a high level of hygiene. This basically means that you have to keep the nitrate and ammonia levels down. However, the fish will not help in this task, and nor can they, since they live and defecate in their surroundings, the water. You could rightly say that the live in their own toilet bowl.
Therefore, it is up to you, as their benefactor, to keep their water as clean as possible. This is really not so difficult and much or the decontamination process can be automated, leaving you, the owner, to only have to carry out routine, weekly tests.
The first check that you should carry out can be made on a daily basis if not more frequently, when you feed your fish, does the water look clear? Is it green? Are there lots of leaves floating around in it? If it is translucent enough to see the bottom of the pond, you are probably doing OK, but do not rely on that, wait for the weekly chemical check up.

It’s not an easy thing to adopt a puppy, not in the way of being unable to come by a cute and adorable puppy that will fit into your lifestyle, but because to adopt a puppy means that you will necessarily need to adjust your life to fit the puppy.
Catering to your new puppy’s needs would require you to implement some changes in your lifestyle. Since the puppy has just suffered a separation from everything that he knows till now, it would be required from you to spend some time close to him and provide him with love, care and affection.
When you adopt a puppy you will need to be willing to devote at least some time in these initial stages to housetraining him. Or if you don’t have the time to do this, you need to be willing to at least send your puppy to the canine version of kindergarten. Before you do any of these things though you should have an idea of what your cute looking puppy is going to look like as a fully grown adult dog.

Wood is by far the most popular material in the world for home items such as chairs, benches, doors, windows, cabinets, tables, wardrobes and jewellery boxes. Wood is still widely used to make houses in many countries and not even only poor countries either. So it follows that woodworking is one of the most sought after skills in the world as well.
Even though there is always a high demand for items made from wood, there is always a shortage of good wood workers, carpenters and cabinet makers. This makes woodworking in any of its various forms a good trade to enter. Previously, there were shuttering carpenters, joiners, carpenters, ships’ carpenters, furniture makers, cabinet makers and wood workshop workers. These various types have melded to a certain extent.
So, what do you do if you want to enter the profession? Well, the traditional course was to become an apprentice to a tradesman, but that practice largely died out in the 1970’s and 1980’s. The route now is more likely to be through school and technical college, together with short term placements in industry until the ‘apprentice’ has passed his or, more and more often nowadays, her, final exams.

We all know that stress kills in the human world, but did you know that stress kills in the animal kingdom as well? It should not really come as much of a surprise an humans are only intelligent animals anyway. Stress kills animals, including fish as sure as it kills us.
However, fish do not pay bills and most of them do not even care about their kids. Some fish even eat their own children, so why does stress build up in a fish?
Well, stress can build up in a fish for lots of reasons, but the main one is bad environment, which means water that has a chemical imbalance or a lack of oxygen. Fish can also get stressed, if it does not have anywhere to hide from predators or the sun.
It is straightforward to give your fish somewhere to hide. You can grow plants in tubs or buy floating lilies and you can also create caves of a sort for the fish to go into. A chemical imbalance can be checked with a kit and rectified by following the instructions that came with that testing kit.

If you reside in a temperate zone, fish from temperate zones can easily overwinter outside. On the other hand, tropical fish would die without a water heater. We will be looking at how you can keep cold water, temperate climate fish contented during a typical winter.
If you live in an area where winter is cold enough to create ice, you will have to bear this in mind when you construct your fish pond. How thick is ice normally in your region? In most cases, a ‘deep end’ of thirty to forty five inches should be sufficient, but you will have to get advice locally if you do not know the answer. A pet shop, a neighbour or the zoo can offer the required advice.
The other problem with winter and ice is that a layer of ice prevents noxious gases escaping and oxygen entering, as it would do in the usual course of events. Therefore, you will have to ensure that there is always a hole in the ice. However, smashing a hole will frighten the fish.
There are several ways by which this air hole can be maintained under mild freezing conditions:

Predicting the end of the world has probably been going on since man started thinking, whenever that was. It is warned about in Revelations in the Bible, so that must be about 2,000 years ago.
Nonetheless, it is the predictions of Nostradamus that are the most well-known and most abundant. Some biographical accounts of Nostradamus’ life assert that he was terrified of being persecuted for heresy by the Inquisition, although neither prophecy nor astrology fell under their jurisdiction. He would have been in danger only if he had used magic to support his prophesies.
In fact, his contact with the Church as a prophet and a healer were always very good. His short imprisonment at Marignane in late 1561 came about purely because he had published his 1562 Almanac without the prior permission of a bishop, contravening a recent royal decree.
Here then are a few of the prophesies of the ending of the world and the annihilation of mankind.
December 21st, 22nd or 23rd 2012 are all possible dates for the ending of the world according to the ancient Mayan Calendar.

If you have a lovely patio or deck or a beautiful garden, then you need to have good patio furniture in order to enjoy it. There is no finer end to a busy day than sitting outside on the patio with a drink and a newspaper or a book. I like to sit in the garden after the sun has waned a little, but before the mosquitoes come out, for a few hours reading a book.
There are many different styles of patio furniture to choose from that range from classic to modern. There is also a full range of choice in that there are chairs, loungers, swinging sofas, tables, outdoor fridges, barbecue sets and patio heaters amongst other things. A full set need not cost more than $1,000, but you can start with a table and two chairs and build up your patio furniture set step by step.
The many choices you have when looking for patio furniture are the style and the material it is made from. Most patio furniture stays outside all day and all night in any weather, so it important to get furniture that is well-made and weather-proof. All weather furniture is normally made from plastic-coated steel, wicker, massive wood or moulded plastic.
