What Is An E- Lamp ?
E-Lamp stands for electrode- less lamps. People are phasing out the use of incandescent light bulbs and fluorescent lights in favor of energy efficient lighting. Moreover a large percentage is now using E- lamps so as to minimize their utility charges. Unlike the old incandescent lights, this distinct technology emits a large amount of visible light than heat.
In other conventional gas discharge lamps, the electrodes are the part with the shortest life, limiting the lamp lifespan severely. Since an induction lamp has no electrodes, it can have a very long service life. For induction lamp systems with separate ballast, the service life can be as long as 30,000 hours, which is 11.4 years continuous operation, or 22.8 years used at night or day only. These are both user as well as environmental friendly.
Readers might be thinking, what does this E- lamp signifies. Well, let me tell you. These lamps eliminate the need for electrodes and are totally based on magnetic induction. For this reason they are also named as induction lamps. With such lights, no electrical connections through the lamp are needed. Rather, in induction lamps, light is transferred from outside the lamp through magnetic field.
In fluorescent lights electrodes are generally used to illuminate the lights. On the other hand, no electrodes are used in induction lighting. As the name suggests, these are operated through magnetic induction. Well, this is the major reason for longer lifespan of the electrode- less lamps.
The technology allows for installations in industrial environments as well as home interior settings like entryways, parks; exterior applications such as landscape, under-canopy, and pole-mounted street lighting; and even back lit signage applications. With this technology, aesthetics aren’t skimped on, either.
These have a rated lifespan of 30000 to 60000 hours whereas incandescent lamps are manufactured to have a lifespan of some 750 to 1000 hours. In addition to this, they can help save money on electricity bills because of their great energy efficient rating. As the market grows more diverse, these are available in dimmer models.
The only reason that refrain people installing electrode- less lamps and bulbs in their houses is their high cost. However, this can be neglected since it offers more beneficial features.
There comes a huge variety of shapes, sizes, colors and designs of E- lamps by which you can enhance the look of your home. Some governments are taking stronger measures to entirely displace incandescent and fluorescent lights. These include taxation or bans on production of such lights that do not fulfill the energy efficiency requirements. Moreover, many efforts have been made in order to encourage the adoption of E- lamps.
